Wedding bells at Unisa graduations

Ms Kutloano Seritse and Mr Bethuel Malebe happy after the marriage proposal

A recent graduation ceremony at Unisa ended on a high note as graduates, parents and friends who attended the ceremony shared their jubilation in ululations and traditional wedding song chants as Bethuel Malebe proposed to his long-time partner, Kutloano Seritsane.

After walking the stage for his third degree at Unisa, Malebe said the moment he had planned for a while had finally arrived after his initial proposal date had to change owing to postponed graduations earlier in the year. " I had been waiting for this moment for a while, and I can finally say the surprise went very well, " asserts Malebe.

The love birds plan to have their wedding celebration in December 2022. Asked why he proposed on his graduation day, Malebe says that it was a significant day because Seritsane had been his pillar of strength and support for the duration of his studies at Unisa. Three degrees later, with Seritsane by his side, he saw it fitting to acknowledge her role in the most romantic way possible.

Seritsane is also a final year student at Unisa, reciprocating the support; Malebe says: "I encouraged her to study through Unisa because she will be more flexible in pursuing other endeavours while studying."

The soon-to-be Mr and Mrs met in 2011 and have a nine-year-old daughter. Excited about their future together, Malebe says he is grateful for the role that Seritsane has played to be where he is today and can not wait to witness how many more goals they will achieve together.
