Unisa’s Registrar and NSRC visit the vaccination site

At the end of October 2021, Unisa’s registrar, Professor Steward Mothata, and the National Student Representative Council (NSRC) visited the Muckleneuk vaccination site to lead by example and keep the university safe from Covid-19 infections.

The Registrar commended the site as a suitable, clean and well-kept place. “The environment is good, there is no queue, and it is managed by professionals,” he said. He further thanked the university’s Human Resources Department for organising such an initiative to make sure staff and students are protected from Covid-19 infections.

The university is an accredited Department of Health (DOH) vaccination site and Sister Mokgadi Tefo, a professional nurse from Unisa’s Employee Relations and Wellness Directorate, said it is good that Unisans keep their family protected as well. She said over two hundred and thirty doses have been administered. Sister Tefo added: “Since it was announced that everyone from age twelve to seventeen can be vaccinated with the goal of vaccinating at least six million people in the same category of age, it is good that Unisans are bringing their families to vaccinate as it is a win-win situation.”

Tefo encouraged Unisans to take this opportunity to make sure that everyone is protected. She thanked the Institutional Development Portfolio for playing a big role in supporting the vaccination site.
