Greater Johannesburg Regional SRC commits to ethical conduct

The Ethics Management Division, in collaboration with the Department of Student Affairs, recently conducted ethics training for the Greater Johannesburg Regional Student Representative Council (RSRC) at the Science Campus in Florida. The ethics training sought to raise awareness of the ethical duty and the importance of ethical and effective SRC leadership. During this session, the RSRC members were tasked to develop individual ethics pledges. After the training, they were assigned to consolidate their collective pledges in committing to the institutional ethics drive. Their  pledge is as follows:

Front row from left to right: Bathobile Simelane, Secretary; Siyabonga Lushaba, Chairperson and Chantelle Fourie, Deputy Chairperson. Second row from right to left: Bayanda Ngcingwana, Regional Undergraduate Officer; Portia Kgatshe, Deputy Secretary and Victor Ramakoetsana, Regional Undergraduate Officer.

"As the Greater Johannesburg Regional Student Representative Counsel, we pledge to communicate properly and openly with our peers; communication will remain at the centre of everything that we do for the betterment of ourselves and the betterment of the RSRC team. We also promise to converse with our peers about ethical conduct to preserve the dignity of the office of the RSRC.

We pledge to give courage, care, and creativity where it is needed. We pledge to consult all relevant structures to make sure the connection between management and students is conserved.

We pledge to put the students of Unisa first, no matter what. We pledge to be honest, humane, respect the university's code of conduct, and always protect our constituency."
