Zenzi Zondi, the Regional Student Representative Postgraduate Studies Officer in KwaZulu-Natal and fourth-year LLB student embodies the spirit of proactive change. Driven to enhance student experiences and foster positive development, she tackles the demanding dual role of student and Regional Student Representative Council (RSRC) member with remarkable resilience.

Balancing academics with RSRC responsibilities are a formidable challenge. Still, Zenzi credits the support of her predecessors for equipping her with essential tools: time management, prioritisation, and the courage to seek assistance. These skills have proven invaluable, especially when confronted with dismissive attitudes. "People underestimate me," she admits, "but I've learned not to be manipulated. I prove them wrong by doing things independently".

Zenzi organised meetings, collected student concerns and escalated them to the appropriate departments, ensuring their voices were heard. Her commitment to follow-up ensured tangible results for her peers.

Through her experiences, Zenzi has honed vital leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, time management and communication skills. She now confidently addresses public gatherings – a testament to her personal growth.

Her advice to fellow students is clear: "Be an active member of any student organisation. Be at the forefront. Engage, participate, identify issues, take risks, and advocate for student affairs." Zenzi’s journey is a powerful reminder that with determination and a passion for service, anyone can overcome obstacles and become a catalyst for positive change.
