Inhlanyelo Hub NPC, in collaboration with Oakfields College, proudly announces the official launch of the Bosadi Artisans Fashion Design Startup Programme — a bold step in nurturing the next generation of black female fashion entrepreneurs.
The initiative seeks to build sustainable, inclusive pathways into entrepreneurship for South African youth. Targeting Unisa students with a passion for fashion design, this 12-week intensive programme will equip participants with the technical skills and business knowledge required to build and scale fashion startups in today’s fast-paced, globalised market.
“At Inhlanyelo Hub, we are intentional about creating pathways for young people—especially black women—to transform their academic qualifications into business opportunities,” said Professor Raphael Mpofu, CEO of Inhlanyelo Hub NPC. “This programme not only addresses unemployment among graduates but also opens access to South Africa’s vibrant fashion economy. It’s about real economic inclusion and giving these women the tools to lead with creativity and purpose.”
The Hub is committed to fostering a supportive environment for fashion entrepreneurs, providing them with the resources and mentorship needed to thrive. The project leader for this UCDP-funded programme, Professor Annemarie Davis, highlighted: “Our objective has always been clear: to open new futures for women by laying solid foundations in innovation and enterprise. This launch marks an important milestone in the effort to address youth unemployment, economic exclusion, and gender disparity in the South African creative economy.”
