Unisa takes learning culture to the community

Unisa participated in a career expo at the Jubilee Mall in Hammanskraal from 6 to 8 May 2025 in line with its commitment to promoting access to education and fostering a culture of learning in remote communities.

The event aimed to provide prospective students, parents, and community members with direct access to information about Unisa’s diverse range of qualifications. Teams from various Unisa colleges were present to offer academic guidance, support with applications, and career advice, helping participants take the next step towards their educational goals. This outreach initiative is part of Unisa's broader mission to bridge the gap between the institution and communities situated far from its physical campuses. By bringing the expo to Hammanskraal, Unisa empowered attendees to make informed decisions about their future studies.

Current and prospective students consulting Unisa staff

The local community responded with great interest. Students and community members took advantage of the opportunity to engage with staff, ask questions, and explore study options available through the university. The vibrant participation highlighted the strong demand for educational support and career development services in the area.

This event was a valuable opportunity for the Hammanskraal community to connect directly with Unisa. By bringing career guidance and academic support to their doorstep, the university is not only raising awareness but also enabling students to make empowered choices about their future.
