The re-imagining of universities in Africa is intended to make these universities African universities. This task requires us to re-imagine what we consider knowledge, knowing and, most importantly, who should be considered a credible knower. In taking this task to heart, the Department of Leadership and Transformation presents the first series seminar under the theme "Reclaiming Africa's intellectual capital". The recent calls for decolonisation have presented us with a most welcome opportunity to provide space for conversation on a "marginalised and yet significant" African scholar, Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe. This seminar on Sobukwe will be used as an opportunity to also discuss the Sharpeville Massacre as a script for imagining and re-imagining what it means to be African. Click here for the invitation.
