Payment of NSFAS allowances to Unisa students

Unisa has begun the process of disbursing NSFAS allowances, through the Intellimali System, to qualifying Unisa students.

During the course of 6 March 2019, Unisa students would have received SMSs requesting them to collect Intellimali cards from Unisa Regional Centres. Intellimali has confirmed that students will receive their PIN numbers over the next few days to allow them to access their allowances.

Once you have received your Intellimali card and PIN number, please activate it. You can do this in one of the following ways:

1. Download the app and follow the instructions to activate your card.
2. Activate your card on the web.
3. Activate your card at any merchant, such as bookshops, Checkers USave or Shoprite (should you wish to draw the cash).

Once activated, you will be able to use your Intellimali-enabled student registration card to spend the allowance at selected suppliers by using it much like a bank debit card. This process is quick and transactions are reflected on the student's Intellimali account instantly.
