We would like to inform you about an important update regarding the security of your Office 365 university accounts. As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding your digital identity and ensuring the confidentiality of your academic information, we are implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all student accounts.
Multi-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring you to verify your identity through multiple steps. In addition to your password, you will now use a second factor - such as a mobile app (Authenticator), text message or phone call - to confirm your identity. This significantly reduces the risk of unauthorised access even if your password is compromised.
The rollout of MFA for student accounts will start on 8 December 2023 and will be rolled out in phases for the next two weeks. Once your account is enabled with MFA you will be prompted to set up MFA the next time you log in to your university account.
Setting up MFA is a quick and straightforward process. You will receive detailed instructions and step-by-step guidance on how to enable it. We will also provide support through dedicated service desk resources for those who may need assistance.
We understand that changes like these may raise questions, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Our IT support team will be available for any enquiries or assistance you may need.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement these important security measures. Your safety and the security of your academic journey are paramount to us.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
