March is TB awareness month

The Unisa Campus Health Clinic would like to encourage students to participate in the TB self-screening as outlined by the National Department of Health (NDoH). March is TB awareness month. World TB Day will be commemorated on 24 March 2021 with the theme "End TB".

In the release of the findings in South Africa's first National TB Prevalence Survey, Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, mentioned that the Department of Health will be using technology to enhance TB management, which includes tracking and tracing of TB patient, and adherence of treatment by linking TB patients to care.

Stop the spread of TB. The Unisa community is encouraged to dial *134*832*5# for TB self-screening. The Unisa Campus Health Clinic will assist with referrals of students who have undergone the self-screening test and suspect that they might have TB symptoms. If you suspect that you have TB symptoms after self-screening, please phone the Clinic Reception on 012 429 6629 or 012 429 6077 to be referred to your nearest facility.

Please read through the self-assessment questionnaire. You do not need to complete or print the self-assessment - an assessment and screening test will be done at the Campus Clinic once you have made a booking.
