Announcement of the Independent Electoral Commission for the 2025/2026 SRC Election

Following the declaration of the 2025 SRC Election by the Dean of Students on 27 August 2025, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has been formally constituted. The members who will serve as the 2025/2026 SRC Election IEC are as follows:

• Chairperson: Dr Maropeng Mpya
• Deputy Chairperson: Ms Maggy Mfopa
• Commissioner: Ms Ntombi Kgomosotho
• Commissioner: Prof Nathi Zongozzi
• Commissioner: Ms Unathi Poyo

With the SRC Election project now officially underway, we call upon all students to remain alert and engaged. The registration and nomination processes for candidates will be announced shortly, and all related information will be communicated through the University’s official communication platforms.

Additionally, voter education initiatives will commence soon to ensure that students are prepared to actively participate in this important democratic process.
