African Academic Student Development Programme

At the core of Africa's transformation vision, Agenda 2063, is the development of human and social capital through education and skills, with a focus on postgraduate preparedness. African universities play a crucial role in this, preparing students to address both local and global challenges through research that is rooted in African epistemologies.

To support this mission, the African Academic Development Programme (AADP) aims to equip UNISA’s postgraduate students (Honours, Masters, and Doctoral) with essential research skills. The programme will offer six key training modules:

  1. Postgraduate Readiness Training
  2. Optimisation of UNISA.s 10 catalytic niche areas through multi, inter and transdisciplinarity
  3. Research Conceptualisation and Planning
  4. Multi-Inter and Transdisciplinary Competence Development
  5. Empirical and Analytical Competencies
  6. Research Dissemination Competencies
  7. Postgraduate Entrepreneurial Training

These modules will be delivered 100% online and are open to UNISA’s 47,000 postgraduate students, helping them develop the competencies necessary to drive Africa’s academic and research leadership on the global stage.

Through this programme, the aim is to empower the next generation of African scholars and innovators to create solutions that shape Africa's future and contribute to global progress.
