Prof. Bunmi Isaiah Omodan is an Associate Professor and NRF-rated researcher. He holds a PhD in Education Management and Leadership, a master’s degree in Educational Management, and a B.A. Ed in English Language. As a distinguished scholar, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of two accredited journals and is actively involved as an editorial member and guest editor for several other prestigious journals. Currently, he leads a research project focused on decolonising student unrest in South African universities, contributing to the broader discourse on educational transformation in post-colonial contexts. His academic contributions have been widely recognised, earning him numerous awards, including the 2023 Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Award at Walter Sisulu University. In 2023, and 2024, he was acknowledged as the most productive researcher institution-wide at Walter Sisulu University, South Africa. His achievements extend beyond 2023 and 2024, as he was also celebrated as a top researcher by the Faculty of Education at the University of the Free State in 2021 and 2022, securing a significant research grant of R204,800. Additionally, in 2020, he won the 1st Prize in the Learning and Teaching Research Awards at the University of the Free State, and in 2019, he received the PhD 1st Prize in an essay competition at the UFS QwaQwa campus with his essay, Decoloniality in the 21st Century Classroom. Beyond his research achievements, Bunmi Omodan is an active member of the South African Education Research Association (SAERA), the British Education Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS), the Nigeria Association for Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP), and the Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management (CCEAM). His influence extends into postgraduate supervision, where he has successfully guided numerous master's and doctoral students at both the University of the Free State and Walter Sisulu University. His prolific academic output includes the publication of three books and 121 scholarly articles both locally and internationally. His research interests encompass a broad spectrum of topics, including qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, social and Africanized pedagogy, and conflict management from a decolonial perspective.
