In a thought-provoking Masterclass lead by Prof. Richard Whittington from Oxford University he addressed the issue of an open strategy for organisations. The event was hosted by Unisa’s Graduate School of Business Leadership (SBL) in Midrand and forms part of SBL’s regular thought leadership events. Prof Whittington holds both a PhD from Manchester Business School as well as an MBA from Aston Business School amongst others. He is globally regarded as a leader in strategy studies and has had an illustrious career with extensive features in high profile journals, board membership and guest lecturing at a wide variety education institutions.Read more

Budget 2019 must climb mountains to meet five key objectives

In his opening statements in Budget 2019 yesterday it was clear that Finance Minister Tito Mboweni had remained loyal to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s desire to commit to five key tasks that could change South Africa’s fortunes. Budget 2019 must articulate practicalities of SONA intent

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Houses of Parliament had the theme, “Following up on our commitments. Making your Future Work Better.” In preparing to give the address, President Ramaphosa’s objectives would have been twofold: firstly, to appeal to business and the investment community which would be carefully listening for indications of policy consistency; and secondly, winning over South Africa’s voting public who would listening for messages of hope that a better future is within grasp.
