Unisa Graduate School of Business Leadership to host Open Days in August

SBL alumni joined prospective students during the open day and shared their experiences with obtaining the PGD, MBA, MBL and DBL and the impact it had on their careers

The Unisa Graduate School of Business Leadership (SBL) hosted its Open Day for prospective students yesterday at the Unisa SBL campus, corner Janadel and Alexandra Avenues, Midrand. This will be followed by Open Days at Unisa venues across the country.

The Open Day provided an opportunity for those interested in furthering their post-graduate business studies to meet academics, programme administrators and SBL alumni. SBL Executive Dean Professor Raphael Mpofu says, “We welcome professionals from all disciplines who are considering studying further at a leading business school to join us for presentations on our management and leadership offerings.

Unisa SBL offers formal programmes which include the Master of Business Leadership (MBL), Master of Business Administration (MBA), the Doctor of Business Leadership (DBL) and the Post Graduate Diploma (PGD). The business school also runs a number of executive education programmes, including specialised courses such as Compliance, Strategic Human Resources Management, Project Management and Public Sector Governance.

Regarded as one of the top business schools in South Africa, the SBL has produced more than a third of all the MBA and MBL degrees awarded by South African universities since its inception. The Unisa SBL MBA is consistently highly ranked, with the business school enjoying a strong reputation for its ethics and governance courses, deeply relevant in the South African environment.

For those who do not have a strong foundation in mathematics, economics and management sciences, but would like to move into business management positions or further their business studies, Mpofu says the one year PGD is ideal.  “The PGD is an excellent stand-alone option but also provides an opportunity for students to gain access to our MBL or MBA degrees.”

The MBL in turn provides professional management development at postgraduate level with particular emphasis on the theory as well as practice of leadership. “The MBL programme will give you access to continue your studies towards the prestigious DBL, joining a group of business leaders who are truly driving change in South Africa.” says Mpofu.
