Dr Busisiwe Tshabalala, is the Group Executive: Human Resources at African Rainbow Minerals, with more than 26 years of HR leadership experience across a range of sectors, including mining, banking, telecoms, IT, hospitality, and manufacturing. Over the course of her career, she has worked across different regions, including Africa, Europe, the UK, Switzerland, and the Indian Ocean region, giving her a broad and practical perspective on people leadership and organisational transformation.
Dr Tshabalala holds a Labour Relations Certificate, a B. Administration in Industrial Psychology, Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Business Leadership with Change management elective and completed her Research Thesis on the topic “Transformational barriers against women advancement in South African Platinum Mines”. Dr Tshabalala’s article met the publishing requirements of the University of South Africa (Unisa).
She graduated with a PhD in Commerce and Administration from Cranefield, where her research focused on transformation and talent management in the South African mining industry. Her work has been strongly anchored in advancing women, strengthening leadership pipelines, and driving meaningful organisational change.
She is also widely recognised for her contribution to transformation strategy, mentoring, talent development, and skills development, particularly for young women, and has served on a number of Boards, including advisory boards for institutions of higher learning, national and international committees and working groups, including those linked to the United Nations, BRICS, ICMM, the Minerals Council South Africa, and the World Economic Forum.
