Statistical Support
The Stats Support Office offers a dedicated statistical consultation service for all registered postgraduate students. This service provides expert guidance on selecting appropriate research designs, data collection methods, and statistical analysis techniques tailored to your study. Support is available at every stage of the research process—from planning and designing your study, to choosing suitable statistical tests, analysing your data, and interpreting your results. Consultations are conducted online via Microsoft Teams, ensuring flexible and accessible support throughout your research journey.
The specific aspects covered at each phase of the research process are outlined below:
Research design phase
Support provided:
- Guidance on appropriate research design to address the research questions of the study
- Sample selection strategy and sample size estimation to ensure that the sample is sufficient to address the objectives project/study
- Guidance on appropriate data collection strategy
- Questionnaire and data analysis plan review

Data collection phase

- Questionnaire review if not already done at research design phase
- Check that all the variables of interest in the study are correctly measured
- Ensure that the data collection instrument is designed to enhance data management

- Practical data capture demonstration in SPSS to ensure that data is captured in a manner that facilities data analysis
