Project Leader: Open Distance and eLearning International Research Conference

As a leading open distance and eLearning (ODeL) research university in Southern Africa, the University of South Africa (Unisa) endeavours to be responsive to the communities it serves. To that end, the Unisa ODeL Research Conference Steering Committee cordially invites all national, continental and global ODeL role-players and change agents to the Unisa International Annual Research Conference, which will  be held from 15 to 17 August 2023 at Emperors Palace Hotel in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, South Africa. The theme of the conference is:

  • ODeL in the Global South: Opportunities in times of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA).

The Unisa ODeL Research Conference seeks to create a supportive and enabling environment for the sharing of ideas, and for current and intended research in ODeL. It offers a conducive platform for critical self-examination and reflections on teaching, learning, research and community engagement in the post-COVID-19 era. Moreover, the conference seeks to harness creative ideas, to ascertain the obstacles that researchers face in uncertain times, and to focus on the solutions that research might highlight, as well as potential opportunities that might arise from environments that are characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.
