Margaret Funke Omidire, a full Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, University of Pretoria is a National Research Foundation (NRF) rated researcher. Her research interests centre on multilingualism, the multiplicity of languages in education and issues of psychological well-being of learners, teachers and parents affected.

Funke is involved in school-based intervention research, learning/learner support, and she is also interested in the reconceptualization of education in Africa. She is a registered Educational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. She is the programme coordinator of the MEd Educational Psychology and Chair of the Ethics Committee, Faculty of Education. Funke is the 2023 Outgoing Chairperson of the Education Association of South Africa (EASA) and a member of the International Association of Multilingualism.

She is currently the Director of the Centre for Evaluation and Assessment, University of Pretoria.
