You, Unisa’s finest researchers and innovators of the past year, have earned it. You are an inspiration to us all and an asset to the university. We applaud you.
It is in your honour that Unisa Council members, senior members of management, diplomats, heads of government departments and other dignitaries have gathered at the CSIR’s International Convention Centre. It is your achievements that are being celebrated, not just in the venue where the awards are taking place, but also on social media and Unisa’s various publications platforms.

On this special night, Unisa is paying tribute to 106 talented researchers and innovators. Some of you have won R&I Awards before. We are pleased to see you back again. For some of you, this is the first time Unisa has recognised you in this way. Welcome!
This edition of the Unisa R&I Awards is the twelfth edition of the awards and it will not be the last. What makes this particular night so special is the unique contribution each of you has made to your field and to the university. Others will follow where you have led.
