Adeyinka TELLA is a Professor in the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Tella was the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin from December 2012 to August 31st 2015. He is currently the Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He has 14 years of professional and academic experience comprised of University teaching, research and community services. He is a Research Fellow and a DISTINGUISHED Professor in the Department of Information Science at the University of South Africa, Pretoria in South Africa.
Awards and Scholarships: Tella is a C2 Rated Researcher by the South African National Research Foundation, NRF. Tella was a Commonwealth scholar who finished his Ph.D. at the University of Botswana in Sept 2009. He is a Three-time winner of Dr. TM Salishu Most Published Librarian Award by the Nigerian Library Association (2015, 2017 and 2018). He is also a 2007 winner of the CODESRIA small grant for thesis writing for the African Ph.D students’ category. In 2023, Tella won the Global EMERAL LITERATI Award for the Most Outstanding Paper of the Year. In the same 2023, precisely October 23; Tella emerged the BEST RESEARCHER OF THE YEAR OF THE BETTER BY FAR UNIVERSITY, The University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Tella is one of the SEVEN 2023 Unilorin winners of the TETFUND Research Grant (with the research titled “Development of an Effective Strategies to Address the JAPA Menace Among Nigerian Youth for a Promising Future”. Tella has also won the best paper presenter awards at conferences
As we speak, Tella is an external examiner for Ph.D candidates in many Universities locally and across Africa including Babcock University, the University of Calabar, the University of Ibadan, Bayero University, Kano, Lead City University in Nigeria; the Federal University of Technology, Minna, in Nigeria. The University of Fort Hare, the University of Zululand, the University of South Africa, the University of Limpopo, Durban University of Technology, and the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa; the University of Eswatini in Eswatini formerly known as ‘Swaziland’ Technical University, Kenya and the University of Zambia in Lusaka. Tella has authored close to 320 academic papers mostly journal articles published in high-impact Web of Science, Scimago/Scopus-rated journals. Since Traveling is part of education, Tella has visited Countries such as the United States of America, Italy, Portugal, the United Arab Emirate- Abu-Dhabi, Qatar, Malaysia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Cote D'Ivoire, Togo, Namibia and The Republic of Benin.
As of 09th October 2024, Tella has an H-Index of 39, an i10-Index of 92, and has been cited 6797 times. Tella has supervised 14 Ph.D. Degree Candidates to completion and 23 master's Degree Students. Conclusively, Tella is a child of God who believes that “WITH HIM, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE” He is married with children. Tella is available for any research assistance by the research students either at the master's or doctoral levels. He is also available for any local or international research collaboration.
