Main conference abstracts

Abstracts related to the above topics should not exceed 300 words, and should address or contain the following:

  • Theme and title of the paper, which also reflects a clear description of the topic and its importance or relevance
  • Name(s) of the author(s)
  • Contact details of the author(s), inclusive of e-mail(s) and contact telephone number(s)
  • Institutional affiliation(s)
  • Main category within the conference outline to which the abstract relates
  • Keywords

Specifications for a UNILISA poster presentation

NB: all electronic versions of the posters should be sent to rammumw@unisa.ac.za; mojapmg@unisa.ac.za; mathovn@unisa.ac.za by 04 March 2025.

1. General Guidelines

  • Size: Standard A0 (841mm x 1189mm) or A1 (594mm x 841mm)
  • Orientation: Portrait only

2. Structure and Content

  • Title: Should be concise and informative
  • Author(s) and Affiliation(s): Full names, institutional affiliations, and contact details.
  • Must include: Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion & Recommendations.

3. Design & Formatting

  • Font: Arial or Times New Romans
    • Images & Graphics: High-resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
    • Posters should be laminated.

    4. Technical Considerations

    • Format: Printed
    • Printing: Readable under different lighting conditions.
    • Mounting: The posters will be pinned to a wooden board

    5. Presentation Guidelines

    • Speaking Time: Be prepared strictly for 5 minutes.

    NB: any changes related to poster presentations will be communicated in due course.

    Full Paper submission: Closed 

    • Abstracts for the conference must be submitted to rammumw@unisa.ac.za  or mojapmg@unisa.ac.za
    • Best accepted full papers will be considered for the special issue in Mousaion: South African Journal of Information Studies
    • To ensure that your paper is published as a research output, the full paper must be submitted by 10 January 2025. Please note that it cannot be uploaded to the Mousaion before presentation. Qualifying authors will be notified and an appropriate link for submission will be provided.
    • Submitted papers should be limited to 7 000 words or approximately 25 pages in length.
    • Please use Chicago Manual of Style referencing, Manuscripts must be presented as: A4 pages; normal margins; 12pt Times Roman; 1.5 line spacing
    • Please clearly indicate the category of your paper on the title page.
