Major new partners boost Unisa’s transformation agenda

Unisa’s Department of Institutional Advancement reached out to private sector players to join forces in advancing the university’s transformation agenda, and this recently resulted in two major companies, Skynet and Katlego Global Logistics, adding their considerable muscle in support of various student and community initiatives.

Skynet South Africa (Pty) Ltd has committed to donate R2 172 000, spread over two years, to support student bursaries, community engagement and work-integrated learning. Skynet will also contribute towards the Chancellor’ Fund, which is used to support Unisa staff undertaking master’s and doctoral degrees.

Katlego Global logistics has committed an amount of R500 000, spread over two years, to cover the tuition fees of 50 students who are financially needy and academically deserving.

According to Unisa’s Mr Frankie Mojapelo, Deputy Director: Development and Special Projects, Katlego Global Logistics will also establish an internship programme solely for two Unisa graduates who have completed their studies within the fields of logistics, finance and accounting.
