The Annual Spring Law Conference is hosted by the College of law. This year the conference is hosting the 10TH Annual Spring Law Conference.

The College of Law will be hosting its 10th Annual Spring Law Conference from 25 September 2024 to 27 September 2024, at the Unisa Main Campus. The Spring Law Conference is the flagship event of the College aimed at promoting research and engaged scholarship. The Annual Spring Law Conference serves as a platform for academics, researchers, scholars, experts, legal activists, and students to come together and engage in meaningful discussions, exchange ideas, and explore innovative approaches to addressing local and continental legal challenges.

The Spring law Conference is a flagship project of the college of law. In 2013 the first conference was held. The conference has since hosted its conference annually between 2014 – 2022. Over the years the Conference has had a robust diverse and relevant theme that affect the community. Some of the previ9us themes were,

  • 2017 - Racism, discrimination and oppression in post-colonial African societies: South Africa after 23 years of democracy
  • 2018 - Not Yet Uhuru, Not Yet Azania: Reflections on South Africa’s Rainbow Myth Through the Lens of Pan Africanism and Black Consciousness
  • Ten years after the Marikana Massacre: Reflections on the tragedy as a spiderweb of the age-old wicked phenomena of colonialism and imperialism in post-independence Africa and post-1994 South Africa

The conference has guest speaker who come and address attendees on the theme of the conference. There is also submission of abstracts which the are presented during the conference.
