Unisa like all other universities operates in a ‘global village’, therefore partnerships and internationalisation are the cornerstone fostering cooperation, collaboration, integration of cultures and ideas, and innovation to advance teaching and learning, community engagement, research, scholarship, growth and development. Therefore, higher education has become more international allowing for cross-border and inter-institutional collaborations among institutions of higher learning. Internationalisation is key in enhancing the global reputation and profile of higher education institutions.
Unisa is now posed to advance institutional internationalisation initiatives and programs to increase research ability and collaborative research and innovation to respond to contemporary challenges affecting our graduates, their employability and competitiveness: the higher education sector and society in general.
The Strategic Partnerships office uses the Globe-Ubumbano to showcase the universities initiatives of partnerships and collaborations as well as the internationalisation work done by Unisans. The office of Strategic Partnerships is the nexus that links Umisa with our international partner institutions to forge new relations, nurture existing collaborations and opportunities for Unisa. All this collaborative work is aligned to the university’s academic project and the recently gazetted national policy framework on Internationalisation in South Africa. |
