INVITATION to submit proposals for the naming of the Student support Centre AND HALL in Polokwane

You are invited to submit proposals for the naming of the Student Support Centre and the Hall that is part of the Centre in Polokwane.  

The newly constructed Student Support Centre and Hall is located at the premises of the Polokwane Regional Hub; the service delivery arm of the university in Limpopo.

The Student Support Centre has the following facilities:

  • EUP Testing and Practice Laboratories;
  • Seminar rooms;
  • Hall;
  • SRC Offices;
  • Support room for disabled students and visitors;
  • Support room for master’s and doctoral students.

The proposed name(s) must relate to the mandate of the region namely to provide academic student support services to Unisa students in the region and to participate in the development of the community.

The proposed name(s) should:

  • support the vision and the mission of the university,
  • promote the brand of the university,
  • have an association with and make outstanding contributions to Unisa and South Africa and/or has relevance to the university or the country, and
  • highlight the purpose of education.
  • be based on names of persons, places, events, activities, fauna or flora.

The proposed name(s) should not be the names of individuals who are currently serving Unisa or politicians who are currently in service.

Stakeholders of the University (employees, students, alumni, donors, community members) and stakeholder structures of the University (Council, Senate, Management Committee, Convocation, Institutional Forum, Unisa Foundation Board of Trustees and the Students’ Representative Council) are hereby cordially invited to submit proposed names for the naming of the mentioned Student Support Centre and Hall.

The proposal of the name(s) with the motivation must reach the office of the Acting Registrar by the close of business on 3 August 2017.
