Unisa was recently nominated in the top three institutions by the Zairi International Awards for Excellence in Higher Education inaugural 2022 edition. The awards are a formal international recognition of outstanding performance for Higher Education institutions (HE) around the world in specific areas pertinent to research, digital transformation, community engagement, and to those who successfully address global educational challenges.
Having been an international recognition for outstanding performance, the award was named after the late Professor Mohamed Zairi, who was one of the HE pioneers in the field of quality and excellence globally.
The award which recognises Unisa as one of the top three institutions was open to HE institutions across the globe intending to highlight inspiring success stories within the sector. Unisa’s recognition in this global award is a step in the right direction towards realising Professor Puleng LenkaBula, Unisa’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal’s vision of positioning the university as a committed institution that is working to reclaim its place at the top tier of tertiary education institutions in South Africa – and on the continent.
The awards will be presented tomorrow (23 March 2022) by the Center for Learning Innovations and Customised Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS), a specialised centre focusing on the provision of capacity building opportunities to HE sectors through offering a large range of public and in-house training programmes and consulting services.
