Unisa’s Mokhotjwa Dhlamini has emerged as the continental winner in the Education and Training: Academic sector of CEO Global’s Titans: Building Nations, 2018 Awards. Annelize Wepener, Chief Executive of CEO Global, who presented the award at a gala dinner in Johannesburg on 27 November 2018, says that he is an extraordinary individual within the sector and his achievements, alongside those of the university, deserve to be showcased as an inspiration to others.
Dhlamini, who is a full professor in the Department of Physics in the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology (CSET) at Unisa, shares the award with Makerere University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration, Professor William Bazeyo. In October, Dhlamini and Professor Godwell Nhamo, incumbent of the Exxaro Chair in Business and Climate Change at Unisa, were both regional winners for the Pan African Awards: Titans Building Nations Recognition Awards 2018/19 for the SADC South region and country winners in the Education and Training: Academic sector.
“I am very excited to receive this prestigious Pan African Award and so incredibly proud of my entire team,” says Dhlamini. “This award is a great achievement that I am proud of and it is always an honour to be recognised for the work you do.”
CEO Global hosted Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government and Titans Building Nations Awards on 26 and 27 November 2018 to recognise the regional and continental finalists and winners. Fifty-seven countries participated in this year's awards in 23 categories, which included education and training, media, health, tourism and banking.
