Ephraim Nhlanhla Mbuli is Professor in the Department of Electrical and Smart Engineering, College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET), University of South Africa (UNISA). He holds a BScEng (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Natal (1994), BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pretoria (1998), MEng (Hons) from the University of Pretoria (2000), a DIng from the University of Johannesburg (2006), and a BSc (Statistics and Operations Research) from the University of South Africa (2021)

He has been registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) from 1999. He has been a Fellow of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (FSAIEE), South Africa, since 2011 and has been a Senior Member of Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (SMIEEE), USA, since 2012.

Prior to joining UNISA in October 2023, he had practiced continuously in industry since 1995, and his last employer was Eskom Holdings SoC Limited where he was employed from December 1999, and where he spent the last 15 years as Corporate Specialist for Transmission and Distribution Planning.

Also, before joining UNISA, he had been associated with the University of Johannesburg as a visiting member of staff from 2011, spending the last 3 years to 2023 as a visiting Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering.
