Dr Gift Mphefu is the founder of a multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, Med TechEngineers. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE), South African Systems Dynamics Chapter (SASD), and the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE).

Dr Mphefu is a board member of Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) and immediate past Chairperson of the Gauteng Province Branch of CESA. He has also served on the boards of a multinational corporation (Ericsson SA) and in a state-owned entity (Broadband Infraco) in the Republic of South Africa.

He holds a BSC in Electrical Engineering from UKZN (former UDW), a Certificate Course in Wireless Telephony from Continuing Education at The University of Pretoria, Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Pretoria’s Graduate School of Technology Management, a Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Technology Management from the University Cape Town, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering Management from the Graduate School of Engineering Management at The University of Johannesburg. He is a Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Smart Systems Engineering, School of Engineering, College of Science, Engineering and Technology at the University of South Africa.
