ICT4D Research Flagship
Goal
To develop a dynamic and sustainable research group in the field of Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) that produces research and innovation focused on the benefit of the South African and African communities.
Focus areas:
- Education (projects in Community libraries; learning centers and information Kiosks)
- Mobile technologies for development (M4D) which may overlap with education as in m-learning.
- Health (use of mobile phone and ICT to support HIV projects; basic health education and improving ICT skills of health workers in rural communities)
- Knowledge management

- Knowledge repository development on ICT4D knowledge– towards an organised collection of vetted ICT4D publications, conferences, journals and other knowledge sources.
- Utilisation of an e-Health Decision Support System for Improving Audit of Maternity Care in Tshwane-Metsweding Health District.
- Mobile App development project
- Individual members’ projects on mobile technologies, education, health and communities of practice
