Other

Godfrey was a member of the SAPS for 9 years where he worked in the client service centre, crime prevention patrols and as a general detective for 8 years at Norwood Police Station. In 2005, he was promoted and posted at Gauteng Province- Specialised Commercial Branch Task Team, Johannesburg Anti- counterfeit and film and publications group, Pretoria Specialised Commercial Branch Banking group, Pretoria Specialised Commercial branch statutory law cases group, and Pretoria Anti-counterfeit and film and publications group where he was a co- leader in the group. In 2007, he left the SAPS and worked for the South African Social Security Agency in Gauteng province, as an Assistant Director for Fraud Risk Management and Compliance Inspections Unit, where he was responsible for managing fraud and enforcing compliance with government policies in the administration of social grants. He was responsible for tasking the SIU on the investigation of procurement fraud at SASSA. Whilst working at SASSA he served in various committees including Audit, Supply Chaim Management, Fraud prevention and Loss management. He is the leader of the Short Learning Programme on Anti-Corruption and Commercial Crimes at the Centre of Criminological Sciences at Unisa. He is a member of the Reference group for the Government of South Africa’s National Anti-Corruption Strategy and took park in writing an Anti-Corruption Strategy for the country from 2019 to 2022. He is a member of the Institutional Architecture Reference Group of the National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council (NACAC) - advising on the implementation of the National Anti- Corruption Strategy as from 01 April 2023 - to date.
