Mpho was a member of the South African Police Service for 14 years and 8 months where she gained valuable experience working at the Component Crime Registrar- Section Policy Standards and Compliance (2018-2020); Division Visible Policing-Section Partnership Policing (2014-2018), Division Human Resource Development: SAPS Crime Intelligence Academy working as a trainer/instructor providing crime intelligence and detective training to learners in accordance with the approved learning material (2010-2014). Mpho also worked at the Forensic Science Laboratory-Ballistic Section- rendering ballistic services, attending to crime scene and gathering of ballistics evidence (2008-2010) and at the Client Service Centre (2006-2008). She resigned from the SAPS as a Lieutenant Colonel and joined Unisa as a Lecturer in 2020.
