Community Engagement (CE) Projects

  1.  Inside Out Outside In Corrections Interest group (Contacts: Dr Bianca Parry, Mrs Errolyn Gordon and Prof Eduard Fourie) - They work with correctional services on a range of issues related to inmates. It serves as a research area for some of the MA Research students.

  2. Towards LGBTI Health (Contact: Prof Juan Nel) works on different research areas on LGBTI communities. Serves as a work integrated placement for MA Research students. 
  3. Climate change adaptation: Community healthcare and system strengthening project in Kruger to Canyon (Contacts: Prof Monika dos Santos (leader), Mr Romeo Palakatsela, Dr Janice Moodely, Ms Kgothatso Mokutu & Ms Louise Henderson) - project focusing on climate change and health impacts within the South African and African context, piloted in the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere Region.
  4. Soshanguve practical placement project (Contacts: Ms Khumoetsile Modutla & Dr Emmanuel Tlou) - project for MA Clinical students. It offers them psychotherapy practicals and research opportunities. Students conduct face to face sessions or activities with Psych department members (under supervision) within their respective placements (1. High school setting working with adolescents - individual or group work; 2. Workshops with adults within the Day facility centre who present with various cognitive impairments; 3.Day Care Centre which houses children with a variety of disabilities including; mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism and other developmental challenges)
