Department of Political Sciences
The Department is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in Southern Africa and is dedicated to the community which it serves. Political Sciences at Unisa offers three-year majors and postgraduate degrees up to the doctoral level by way of distance teaching in the subjects Politics, African Politics and International Politics.

- To be a leading African academic department that promotes excellence in Political Science open distance and learning, transformation in tuition and learning, research and innovation, and strives for visibility and impact in national and continental community engagement and academic citizenship, in service of humanity.
Mission:
- To develop, promote and sustain Political Science scholarship in Africa through focused research and academic citizenship, excellence in tuition and learning and community engagements that enhance Unisa's role as a university in the service of humanity.
