When They See Us
In this discussion of the movie and black boys, the host Eusebius McKaiser discusses the Netflix miniseries When They See Us with lawyer and co-founder of the literary podcast Cheeky Natives Letlhogonolo Mokgoroane and psychologist and author Kopano Ratele, Professor at Unisa and Director of the SAMRC Violence, Injury and Peace Research Unit. When They See Us is a great television miniseries by Ava DuVernay which premiered on May 31, 2019. The TV series is based on real life events from 1989 that came to be known as Central Park 5 case in which five teenage black boys were accused and prosecuted and gaoled on charges related to the assault and rape of a white female jogger woman in Central Park, New York City, United States of America.
