International Tourism Studies Association (ITSA) Biennial Conference 2018

The 7th International Tourism Studies Association (ITSA) Biennial Conference will be hosted by the University of South Africa in the City of Tshwane, from 6-10th August 2018.  This conference will co-inside with the 2nd Tourism Educators South Africa (TESA) International Conference.  Our supporters are the South African National Convention Bureau, Gauteng Tourism Authority, the City of Tshwane and South African Airways.

The conference theme is “Collaboration and Co-creation Opportunities in Tourism”.  The subthemes / issues to be covered by the conference, include, but are not limited, to the following areas:

Partnering Journals

  • There is an opportunity for selected full papers to be expanded to up to 8,000 words for publication in the International Journal of Tourism Cities, ISSN-2056-5607, published by Emerald-group and ITSA.
  • A special edition of the Southern African Business Review (ISSN 1998-8125) will be dedicated to the conference.  This journal is a refereed and scientific research journal of the College of Economic and Management Sciences of the University of South Africa.  It is a fully independent refereed publication, accredited by the South African Department of Higher Education and Training since 2004, and supported by an international Editorial Board, it aims to enhance scholarly research and publication in the fields of the economic and management sciences.  All presenters may submit papers to the special edition of the journal with a maximum of 6,000 words, upon which the best papers will be selected for publication.

  • Early bird registration fees for non- ITSA / TESA members – ZAR 6000.00 (before July 6, 2018)
  • Early bird registration for ITSA and TESA members – ZAR 5000.00 (before July 6, 2018)
  • African government employees – ZAR 5000.00
  • Conference registration fees after July 6, 2018 – ZAR 7000.00
  • Student registration fees** - ZAR 3000.00
  • Partner / spouse conference registration fees – ZAR 1500.00
  • Workshop registration fees – R2000 per workshop

* Conference Registration fees exclude conference tours, travel, accommodation and the attendance of workshops

** Students must be registered at an institution of higher learning. Proof of registration must be submitted to qualify for this fee.
