Sustainability and Greed

Sustainability and Greed Module (SUS1501)

Primary Lecturer:  Dr N Ntombela

In 2011, the ISCC was privileged to be tasked with designing a signature module for the College of Economic and Management Science. The outcome of this was a groundbreaking module named “Sustainability and Greed”. The module is grounded in the humanising pedagogy of Paulo Freire. And, consistent with the provocative vision and mission of the ISCC, it sets out to cultivate critical consciousness among economic and management science students about pressing sustainability issues that are the subject of the research that we do. The scale of the impact that we are able to achieve through this module is best captured by the fact that, since 2013, we have delivered it to between 8,000 and 15,000 students every semester.
