The use and application of information and communication technology (ICT) in disaster risk reduction and management (DRR&M) cannot be overemphasised. To this end, the ISCC has opened this specialised programme to assist businesses, governments, and communities in minimising the harm associated with disasters, including climate change, and others. Some of the projects include predictive analytics for real-time disaster forecasting, an open-access digital repository for risk information and resilience data, and participatory innovation hubs that foster grassroots climate adaptation. IKS integration aligns with the African Union’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA-2024) and South Africa’s National IKS Policy Framework.
