Dr Elizabeth Oladimeji received a three-year scholarship from the College of Health Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal for her doctoral programme. She went on to complete a postdoctoral in Public Health at the University of Fort Hare. She then received a partial scholarship from Harvard Medical School for her one-year blended Global Clinical Scholar Research Training (GCSRT) in Boston, USA. In 2018 she was awarded a travel grant to attend a summer course in qualitative research methods at McGill University, Canada. She also received a travel grant from the Africa Health Research Institute Connect Africa to present her work at the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) conference in Chicago in 2019. In addition, she was funded by the University of Washington to present her work at the CFAR African Symposium in Kenya in 2019.
Dr Oladimeji is an epidemiologist with over a decade of experience in public health and implementation research. Her research interests include occupational health and infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS and multimorbidity. She has made and continues to make significant contributions to science and is credited with over 1500 citations and an h-index of 5 (https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=57194580686). She is a member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and an Associate Member of the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. She is a collaborator with the Global Burden of Disease Group at the University of Washington and a regular reviewer for PLOS One and BMJ Open. She supervises and mentors postgraduate students.
