Professional positions, fellowships & awards

Professor Nkululeko Nyangiwe is a registered Professional Natural Scientist under the South African Council for Natural Scientific Profession (SACNASP). He is currently appointed as Distinguished Professor in the Department of Agriculture and Animal Health, UNISA. He previously served as a Senior Researcher at the Dohne Research Institute, which is part of the Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture. He holds a PhD from the University of Stellenbosch.  His research interests are mainly in veterinary parasitology, elucidating the acaricide resistance and climate change impact on Ixodid ticks, and he is recently advancing in helminthology. His dream is to champion the epidemiology of ticks and tick-borne diseases and improve current control strategies. So far, he has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, including 50 conference proceedings. Prof. Nyangiwe has contributed to six (6) science school books (for pure Maths and Life Science) under the Department of Basic Education. He is a member of the Community of Practice under FAO. He has participated in various research committees and is a well-established researcher, as in NRF C ratings. Has chaired various scientific gatherings, including local and international conferences.
