Role of the Minister of Education

The Minister provides the framework according to which a public higher education institution should operate. The framework is set out in legislation and other policy documents of the Department of Education.[8]  Legislation determines that the University is a juristic person[9]  and is autonomous.[10] The Minister determines the scope and range of operations of the University in the interests of the higher education landscape.
