Purpose: For the purpose of this module key sections of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (Act 108 of 1996) and relevant legislation that direct the duties and functions of public human resource managers will be emphasised. It also purposes to impress upon prospective public human resource managers the need to manage conflict by applying appropriate mechanisms and procedures within the context of regulatory frameworks. It aims to promote appropriate skills that foster the maintenance of sound labour relations and practices. It also purposes to highlight the implementation of appropriate and relevant management techniques; including risk management, diversity management, and other tested skills important to effective public human resource management. The module also underscores the relevance of information management techniques as determined by the context, aims, and challenges of public administration.
