Purpose: Students credited with this module will have gained a better grasp of how economic thinking has developed over the centuries with particular references to famous economists like Smith, Ricardo, Malthus, Mill, Marx, Marshall, Walras, Veblen, Keynes, Friedman, and more recently Lucas. This "historical awareness" should help them to better evaluate current economic ideas and policy proposals.
