Short Biography:

Mr Nel is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Mining Engineering, College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET), University of South Africa (UNISA). He was the Coordinator for Mining in the Department for a number of years until December 2015. Over a number of years at Unisa and Technikon SA, Willie was responsible for modules ranging from Metalliferous Mining, Surface Mining, Mine Engineering, Engineering Management, Technology Management and Mining Technical Services to Engineering Economics and Fuel Cell Technology & Systems.
He started his career in deep-level gold mining.

Willie is the editor and co-author of a book with the title, “Management for Engineers, Technologists and Scientists”.

Willie has experience as external examiner and lecturer at a number of South African Universities.

Willie is currently registered for an M Com (Econ) with the dissertation topic: “The evolution of thought on the availability of non-renewable natural resources in the long run”.
