Juanida was a member of the former South African Air Force Police now Military Police Agency for seventeen years where she gained valuable policing experience serving as Officer Commander of various police stations.  She resigned as a Lieutenant Colonel with a collection of certificates of appreciation and commendations.  Her last posting was at the SO1 System Management and Second in Command of the Northern Military Police Region.  Juanida completed a Course in Labour Relations and another in Advanced Labour Relations Management, both at the University of Pretoria. She is currently busy with her doctoral studies through Unisa. 

She serves on the College of Law’s Multi-Inter-and Trans-disciplinary (MIT) Research Committee. Juanida has presented at a local and  international conferences  and published on crime information analysis within a public service organisation. She was awarded Unisa’s  Developing Researcher  Award in 2011.
