Eldorado Park Women's Group

Background
Eldorado Park came into being in 1967. Residents arrived from various parts of the country (e.g. Albertsville, Bosmont and Riverlea) currently Eldorado Park has 10 extensions. The CPA Eldorado Park Women's Group operates in extension Four. 2001 marks the fourth year as volunteer community workers

Objective 
To develop safe neighborhoods through the involvement of local women in the assessment of injuries sustained in their communities, the external causes of these injuries, and the needs of the community with the respect to improving safety and health.

Plan of action 2001

  • Organisational Development
  • Training in areas such as office management, assets control and interpersonal relationships. This will be supplemented by practical experience in the office.

Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention 
Advocacy- lobby local authority for structural change, e.g. The erection of speed bumps, Audit - Investigation of home safety and generating methods of solutionTraining for home visits - ideally, we would like to use the schools as a referral base

Social Welfare 
This forms part of our work in the area of poverty alleviation
