Interdisciplinary Summer School 2017

Message from the Executive Dean

The University of South Africa is on a path to increase the number of Master’s and doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows and top researchers. Thus it is my pleasure to welcome you to the University of South Africa’s (UNISA) 5th Postgradute Summer School which will be held at the Science Campus in Johannesburg, from Monday 6th to Friday 10th November 2017. Hosted by the Unisa School of Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Studies at the College of Graduate Studies, which falls under the Research and Innovation portfolio, the 2017 Summer School will concentrate on various pressing issues related to Men in the ex-Colonies, Social Protest, Drug Development, Particle Physics, Water Treatment Technologies and Sustainable Energies. Innovative solutions of these issues are not only relevant locally but also globally.

We are very delighted to offer Master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral candidates the opportunity to engage with recognised international and national experts during the Summer School. We believe that the Summer School will provide you not only with an interdisciplinary perspective on the above mentioned issues but also with hands-on knowledge and skills in designing research projects leading to innovative solutions.

The Summer School seeks to strengthen research capacity and networks for Master’s, PhD and postdoctoral fellows. The Summer School is therefore designed to cater for postgraduate candidates’ demands for high quality education on research while addressing pressing issues in a global and local context.

We have space for 120 Master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral candidates. I hope you will consider the opportunities this summer school has to offer and apply to participate.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and your interest in the Unisa Summer School.

Yours sincerely

Prof Michele Havenga
