Admission requirements:National Diploma: Engineering (S4) in the relevant discipline OR national higher diploma in Chemical Engineering (T4), PLUS the following bridging subjects: Process Control III (PCT381H), which is the prerequisite for PCT401C; national diploma: Chemical Engineering (T3 diploma: 3 semesters Uot training plus 3 semesters in-service training) PLUS the following 4 bridging units: Process Control III (PCT381H); Chemical Engineering Technology III (Module B) (CEM321B and CEM3PRB); Thermodynamics: Chemical Engineering III (TDC341P); Chemical Process Design: Principles III (CPD371S); Foreign Chemical Engineering qualifications are considered but subject to SAQA evaluation and departmental approval.
Rules:Important: A student may only register for BTech: Engineering: Chemical if he or she: (a) can identify and complete a research project for Project: Chemical Engineering IV (PCE401C), (b) has access to a computer simulation design programme/package for Chemical Process Design IV : Plant Design (Module B) such as ASPEN, CHEMCAD, PROII, etc. and (c) can provide a mentor for each of the above study units respectively. It is the responsibility of the student to find these elsewhere.
