Admission requirements:NSC (Degree) with Mathematics, Physical Science, English & Biology (Life Sciences) or Agriculture or Geography passed with a rating of 3 OR Matriculation exemption with at least E(40%) for Standard Grade Mathematics, Physical Science, English & Biology or Agriculture or Geography OR a completed Diploma in Agriculture/Agricultural Management (with majors in animal production and crop production)
Rules:All practical modules are compulsory and are offered as year modules. Students have to complete two practical modules at level one, four practical modules at level two and four practical modules at level three. Students may only register for practical modules in semester one to complete practical modules in April or August. Local or resident students in South Africa will be invited to attend practical contact sessions at selected venues in South Africa in April or August. The duration of practical contact sessions in South Africa is five working days. Local or resident students in South Africa will be required to make their own arrangements for transport to a central point (eg Pretoria), as well as accommodation and meals at the central point. The department will provide additional transport from the central point to the farms and laboratories and back to the central point every day. Students outside South Africa will be provided with two options to complete practical modules in April or August: (1) they may be required to liaise with the department for approval to register for the same practical modules at other universities in their own countries; or (2) they may obtain permission from the relevant lecturer to submit a portfolio of evidence or project report on a specific topic to be selected by the lecturer.
